Socks are probably the most underrated accessory in our sport – and I honestly don’t understand why!
As also mentioned in The Rules, socks have an important role in cycling:
Rule #27: Shorts and socks should be like Goldilocks.
Not too short and not too long. (…) No socks are a no-no, as are those ankle-length ones that should only be worn by female tennis players.
Rule #28: Socks can be any damn colour you like.
White is old school cool. Black is cool too, (…). If you feel you must go colored, make sure they damn well match your kit.
To help you find the right pair of socks, here are four of my favorite sock brands:
FINGERSCROSSED was founded 2016 by Susanne & Patrick. Both are passionate about cycling and design in all its facets. FINGERSCROSSED combines high performance standards with modern and daring design. Made by cyclists for cyclists. Giving socks the attention they deserve. Real, honest and strong just as cycling itself.
GripGrab is based on a passion for cycling and running and the dream of building a brand of products that makes these sports enjoyable no matter how cold, wet or windy it is. Great quality accessories make the difference between being too hot, or too cold, between being wet or dry, aerodynamic or flappy and between being seen or not seen. These are the products we live and breathe for.
The Athletic started with the PDX Airport Carpet Socks – and then never stopped. Now they make socks for any occasions and with creative designs.
Happy Socks started in the spring of 2008. Two friends had a vision: to spread happiness by turning an everyday essential into a colorful design piece with a rigid standard of ultimate quality, craftsmanship and creativity. Simply put: there’s a pair of high-quality socks and underwear for every occasion, mindset and style.
