Embracing you for you; stand out and shine!

You will never influence the world by being just like it
– Anon.

Here’s a shout out to any woman or girl who doesn’t think she fits in to the crowd and is constantly asking herself in what ways she can change, in the hope that means she will be accepted as part of a group.

Own yourself. Develop. Grow. Build. But don’t you change for anyone just for the sake of ‘fitting in’.

We are unique

We are all born into different families with different genetics and different environments. No person’s path on this earth is the same. We all have so much to gain simply by listening to one another.

Who am I?

I’m Hannah Grace Geelan.

Words that could describe me are

  • Happy
  • Chatty
  • Loud
  • Caring
  • Empathetic
  • Enthusiastic
  • Passionate
  • Funny (I think!)
  • Committed
  • Positive
  • Motivated
  • Hard-working
  • Crazy
  • Loving

I’m lucky to have grown up surrounded by people who did embrace me for me, for the most part. My friends and teachers or coaches never tried to blow out my light. For that, I’m very grateful. This has allowed me to further explore myself without fear of having to hold back my thoughts and emotions inside.

Fear of being judged

I have met so many people who feel they can’t be themselves for whatever reason. That ‘people think I’m weird’ is one of the most common. Be weird! Who determines what’s normal?! Laugh a little louder if you so please. Stay quiet if that’s what brings you peace. Who are we to judge who you are and what you bring to the table? So long as you’re respectful, the right people will love who you are. It may not be a huge crowd but I’d go for quality over quantity any day!

Doing your part

If you want to do something for a world? be you. That’s your power. Stand up and be proud! We are all special. We are all a little weird. It’s so awesome when we can come together and celebrate our diversity.

The bike

I think that’s why I love the bike. It brings so many people from all walks of life together in a way we might not otherwise. From different cultures, religions, gender, body shapes, ages, riding history, social backgrounds and connections.

On a bike I feel we break down social barriers a lot better than say the workplace. As part of a very special women’s crew back in Adelaide, South Australia, I’d say my vibe attracts my tribe. Together we have created the most beautiful, special and diverse group of women who are literally changing the world one bike ride at a time.

What’s next

I have some exciting new opportunities in the mix and I cannot wait to share them with you all! As part of these, I hope to empower more women to truly and unashamedly be themselves.

Until then, stay unique, embrace who you are and never question how special you really are.
